We’re looking for old scientific instruments at Brown!

A group of students from AMST1510, “Collecting and Collections,” is trying to track down and begin to catalog scientific, mathematical and philosophical apparatus at Brown.

From its founding in 1765, professors at Brown have used apparatus for teaching and research. Many of these survive. Some have been saved in the John Hay Library, and in departmental collections. But we’re sure there’s more out there.

Help us find the material legacy of Brown’s long history of teaching and research in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. If you see something that you think is worth saving, tweet a picture, description, and location using the hashtag #brownvintagescience, or email lubar@brown.edu
